Jim Henson's classic 1982 fantasy epic The Dark Crystal is returning to the big screen next month for a two-night presentation thanks to Fathom Events, The Jim Henson Company, and Universal Pictures.
I loved watching the film when I was growing up! It filled me with feelings of both amazement and terror. I haven't seen this movie on the big screen since I was four years old, and even then I have a vague recollection of that experience. Most of my memories come from watching it on VHS.
That being said, being able to watch The Dark Crystal on the big screen again would be an amazing treat! This is one of my favorite films as a kid and now I have a chance to see it in a theater again. I've gotta take advantage of that and I'll have to take my kinds to it!
The screenings are set to take place on Sunday, February 25, 2018, 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (local time) and Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at 2:00 p.m....
Konami, the developer for the upcoming game Metal Gear Survive, has confirmed recently that a constant online connection will be required to play the game, and that a micro-transaction system will be put in place.
The upcoming entry in the franchise, Metal Gear Survive, is the first game in the series does not involve series creator, Hideo Kojima since he already left Konami. In a preview to GameSpot, Konami confirmed that the game will require a constant connection to the internet, even if the player is playing the single-player campaign. This is not really a big issue, since most games nowadays would also require an internet connection. However, fans who are planning to just play the single player campaign should take note of this requirement.
Regarding the constant online connection feature, Konami said that they made it that way so the game would be able to “support a seamless integration between single player and co-op,” and to allow Konami, to provide players with “ongoing content post-launch.”
Furthermore, Metal Gear Survive will also include a feature that is probably one of the most controversial ones in gaming today, micro-transactions. The game will introduce an online store where players can acquire in-game currency by making a purchase with real money. Players will be able to buy things like Boost Passes, however, for players who do not wish to make additional purchases in game, the same virtual currency can also be acquired by players just by simply playing...
Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) has gone through a lot of crazy shit in the first two seasons of Stranger Things. But that's all going to change with Season 3. While talking with Glamour Magazine, director and producer Shawn Levy talked about Will and a few other things that we can expect to see in the upcoming third season including a new threat an more of Steve and Dustin hanging out.
One of the first thing that he mentions is that there will be less of a focus on Will and they plan on giving him a break.
"We're going to give Will a break. We're not going to put Will through hell for a third season in a row. He'll be dealing with stuff, but he won't be at rock bottom the way we forced the amazing Noah Schnapp to play."
So how do they plan on giving Will a break? Well, according to Levy, the third season will introduce a new evil. Some fans have speculated that the story will dive into the consequence of characters like Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) or Chief...
Ryan Reynolds just inked a three-year first look deal with his studio Maximum Effort and Fox, and their first film is a live-action remake of Clue. Variety doesn't have a ton of details about the film at this time, but it's being said that Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are in talks to write the new film.
Reynolds isn't just going to produce this film, however, he's going to star! The film is looking to profit off the actor's popularity, and as such would need him in it for that to happen. Personally, I think Reynolds would make a perfect Professor Plum, but that's just me.
Are you excited for this film, or a little pissed that they're making another live-action one?
The nominations for the 2018 Academy Awards are in and Guillermo del Toro's fantastic film, The Shape of Water, did pretty damn good as it leads the pack with thirteen of the nominations! Those include Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay and more. This was one of my favorite movies of the year, so it was great to see it get a lot of love.
Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk ended up with eight nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director. and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, received seven nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actor. Jordan Peele's Get Out also landed a few nominations including Best Director, which was cool!
As expected, James Franco and his film The Disaster Artist got snubbed amid sexual misconduct allegations surrounding the actor.
Here is the list of 2018 Oscar nominations. Read through them and let us know what you want to see win, and what you think will win.

The champ...is reportedly in talks to kick ass and chew bubblegum in an upcoming Duke Nukem film. That's what Variety is reporting anyway as WWE legend John Cena is in talks to star in a Paramount led adaptation of the popular video game. Honestly, the casting couldn't be any better, although I'm wondering if Cena, whose dedicated a career to being a role model for children, is up to the challenge to portray a character who did the exact opposite throughout the 90s.
I'd love to see it, but can you imagine John Cena dropping F-bombs and throwing ones at strippers in a film with excessive violence? I'm not sure he'd do it. What do you think?
Yesterday, Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 celebrated its 20th birthday after being launched back in January 21, 1998. Many fans, including myself, were on the watch yesterday for any news from Capcom regarding an update on the development of the Resident Evil 2 remake. I mean, it’s the 20th anniversary of the game, I think this milestone is the best time for the company to update fans who have all been dying for the remake to be released.
It has been almost three years since Capcom announced their intention to remake the classic sequel to Resident Evil. I can understand that they may have been busy last year with the release of Resident Evil 7, its DLCs, and the re-release of the Revelations series on the Switch, but now that all of those are out of the way, it is definitely time to give us an update.
A lot of fans waited eagerly for the 20th anniversary, thinking that the tweet by the company, where they posted a picture showing a dummy finger, and what seemed to be the edge of...
What We Do In The Shadows is on its way to becoming a television series as Variety reports FX has given a pilot production order to a potential show. Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, who starred in the original film, will serve as executive producers on the potential series. From what we know about the project from past interviews, its been said this series will take place in the United States. Described as a reboot, the potential series will likely follow vampires, which is a different subject matter than the film's sequel We're Wolves.
What We Do In The Shadows was one of the best comedies I've seen in recent memory, so I'm really hoping this show gets ordered to series! Are you excited about a television version of this show being made?
I'm very curious to see how this upcoming Masters of the Universe film turns out. Director David S. Goyer recently shared a couple photos of him looking at some preliminary designs for some of the characters. The one character that we get a decent look at is of He-Man's right-hand-woman Teela. The things is... she's wearing some kind of mech-type battle-suit!?
I'll be honest... I'm not a fan of it. Look, I like the design... but this in no way represents He-Man and The Masters of the Universe. Why does she need a mech battle suit? This is the first sign for me that this film is being taken in the wrong direction. I want to finally see a He-Man movie that is a faithful to the classic action figure line and cartoon that many of us grew up with. No one in the He-Man universe needs a mech suit! All the characters are so much more badass on their own! In the cartoon, Teela sports that radical snake armor! That's what I want to see in the movie.
These designs come from Blade:...
It's been a busy week for Ready Player One! Following a TV spot and featurette that were released this past weekend for the Steven Spielberg-directed film, another promo has been released that offers up a bit more footage for fans to check out.
The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.
Ready Player One stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg, T.J. Miller, Hannah John-Kamen and Ben Mendelsohn.
Ready Player One gets its game on when it opens on March 30, 2018.
If you haven't watched the first season of the Castlevania anime on Netflix, now might be the time to catch up. Writer Warren Ellis has confirmed (via CBM) the series is set to return in 2018 for Season 2 for DOUBLE the episodes of Season 1!
Eight episodes still isn't an incredible amount of time to spend with this series, but it's certainly better than the four episode count of Season 1! The length in which the first season ran was far too short, and I felt like they cut things off just when I felt like I was finally getting into the series! Hopefully, that won't happen again this time. Are you looking forward to this series returning?
Last year it was reported Rob Zombie was looking to shoot a sequel of his cult classic The Devil's Rejects, and now we're learning today he might be starting production on the film in March! That's coming from Bloody Disgusting, who broke the news last year that a sequel was in development, so I'm inclined to believe they know what they're talking about.
As for what the film is about, the details remain a bit hazy, but it is being rumored that the filmmakers are looking for the sequel to have a theatrical, VOD, and home video release through Saban and Lionsgate.
Of course, just because Bloody Disgusting was right the first time it doesn't mean for sure they're right this time. Is this a follow up you horror fans have been waiting for, or is this one going to be a hard pass for you?
It looks like Disney's The Mighty Ducks film franchise is being adapted into a TV series! According to THR, ABC Signature Studios is in early development on a series based on the classic 1990s films that center around a youth hockey team.
I loved those movies when I was growing up and if this series can capture the magic of those original films, then this might be something worth checking out. They might actually be able to pull that off because a couple key members of the original filmmaking team are developing the show!
According to sources, ABC Signature head Tracy Underwood "put Mighty Ducks in development after being approached by original trilogy screenwriter Steven Brill and original producer Jordan Kerner." So, Brill is on board to write the script for the series, which is great! If anyone can capture the magic of the original films, he would be the guy to do it.
There's no information on if any of the original stars will return to the franchise. We don't even know if this is a sequel or a reboot. I would kinda...

As the world waits to see what Quentin Tarantino's Star Trek film will look like, a hilarious parody from Nerdist has popped up on the web. To be honest, it's more like if you took every cliche from a Tarantino film and cherry-picked scenes from Star Trek that remotely drew upon that cliche, but it was funny enough that I laughed once or twice so I'll allow it. Check it out below, and let us know what you think Tarantino's take on Star Trek will actually be like:
The internet is a weird place, and it doesn't get any less weird once you experience Poppy. For those out of the loop, Poppy is a surrealist performance artist who acts like an Android...basically. Here's an example of one of her more popular videos:
Yes Poppy, fame is funny. Funny enough anyway that YouTube Red is giving this quazi celebrity her own series, which actually doesn't look half bad. Check out the trailer for I'm Poppy below, which also features actors like Samm Levine, Dan Hildebrand, and more. Provided the pilot airing goes well at the Sundance Film Festival tomorrow, the full episode should be up on YouTube Red Thursday according to Variety.
Last week a teaser trailer was dropped for a Crocodile Dundee sequel with Danny McBride called Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home. I still can't tell if this is some kind of elaborate joke, but today we've learned that Chris Hemsworth has joined the film project and there's a promo video showing us a scene involving his character meeting Mcbride, who plays the son of Paul Hogan's original character.
Hemsworth plays a character named Wally Jr. and the official site for the film describes him as the heir to his father’s outback tour company.
"This expert outdoorsman prides himself on knowing all the is to know about the land down under. But even he will have his hands full keeping his new American friend out of trouble."
This whole thing just seems so weird! I've seen some people speculate that this is all leading up to some kind of crazy Super Bowl ad, but who knows!? I certainly don't! If that's the case... awesome! If that's not what is happening here and there's an actual movie in development... awesome! I...
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you were to mix lightsabers with the crazy music machinations of Guitar Hero and Fruit Ninja.....in VR? No? Well you are completely missing out. Earlier today I stumbled upon a really amazing looking VR game called Beat Saber. The game looks pretty simple in it's essence. You use laser sabers to slice blocks with directions on them, to the beat of the music. The blocks are colored so you know which saber to use, and you also avoid obstacles all at the same time. The result is a pretty spectacular looking and sounding game.
Hyperbolic Magnetism is the creator of the game. Starting in 2016 they found that there were no good rhythm based games in VR, so the creators Jan Ilavsky and Vladimír Hrinčár of the indie game studio did what they had to do and started development.
I was a professional musician for several years so when I started to make games I always thought it would be nice to create a rhythm based gameplay. When HTC Vive came...
We all know that Marvel Studios President is thinking about all the awesome things he can do with the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises now that Marvel has the rights back. We don't know what those plans are yet, and it will probably be awhile before we find out. However, during a past interview with Maltin On Movies, Feige did reveal one thing from the X-Men comics that he wants to bring to the big screen and it involves Magneto. This is something he thought would be cool to do before Disney acquired Fox that he wanted to do in the oroignal X-Men movies, but they wouldn't have been able to pull it off then. He said:
"In the comic books, there was this great panel at the time, where Magneto would use his magnetic powers to take a gun and split it into all its component parts. So it was an amazing drawing and I had it up on my desk. And I went, 'wouldn't it be cool to do that?' No. We couldn't do that. We had wires that...
Paramount Pictures recently launched a viral promotion for their upcoming sequel to Cloverfield, which you can check out here. The movie was previously known as God Particle, but now, a rumor has surfaced on Reddit that says the new title of the film is called Cloverfield Station. The Redditor made the discovery when they noticed an FX lighting artist named Rui (Ray) Xu on Linkedin who had listed Cloverfield Station among his credits.
As you might imagine, since this discovery we've learned that there is a Facebook account and Instagram account that include that title, as well as domain names for CloverfieldStation.com and CloverfieldStationmovie.com. None of this has officially been announced, but it's looking like this is going to be the title of the movie. In case you don't remember what the movie will be about, here's a previously released synopsis:
After a physics experiment with a large hadron accelerator causes the Earth to seemingly vanish completely, the terrified crew of an orbiting American space station is left floating in the middle of now-even-more-empty space. When...
