On the dawn of the day of the latest Nintendo Direct, we have the latest Nintendo Download.  There continues to be plenty of new titles available on the Nintendo Switch.  The solo title is available on 3DS this week.  Mario Day is approaching, which is March 10 (Mar10) and there are some discounts available and more.  Finally, Nintendo reminded us about the gold point update on My Nintendo where you can trade gold coins for a discount on digital titles.  Be sure see all the details along with the prices (in the US), just below the screenshots. If you plan on downloading any of these games, let us know in the comments!

Today we got a teaser on Youtube for Another World on Nintendo Switch. The game launched silently on the Wii U almost 4 years ago for the price of $7.99. While we don’t know the price, we expect it to be a similar low-cost title. We fully expect it to be the same 20th anniversary port we had gotten, which includes both remastered music and graphics as well as originals which you can seamlessly switch between in-game! If you still have a Wii U, you can check out the game on the eShop.

Here’s the press release for the original Wii U release:
Also known as Out Of This World, Another World is a pioneer action/platformer that released across more than a dozen platforms since its debut in 1991. Along the years, Another World has attained cult status among critics and sophisticated gamers alike.

Another World chronicles the story of Lester Knight Chaykin a young scientist hurtled through space and time by a nuclear experiment that goes wrong.

  • A remastered presentation: a joint effort between visionary game-designer Eric Chahi and developer Martial Hesse Dreville, Another World is back in its 20th Anniversary Edition with Full High Definition graphics faithful to the original design.
  • 3 difficulty modes: EASY, NORMAL and HARD
  • Choose between Remastered Sounds/FX, Original Sound and Original CD in-game soundtrack.
  • Switch...

What do I think of the game so far from the demo? As someone who isn’t well versed in the Kirby series it is hard from me to say anything without coming off as a ‘noob.’ The game looks great on the big screen and in portable mode. The controls feel incredibly tight and overall it feels like a another good solid platformer. Check out the game later this month and try out the demo now in the eShop!

After today’s maintenance on Nintendo Switch, Switch owners will be able to start using their collected gold coins towards purchasing digital Switch games. Overall, this seems like a good move for those who prefer to buy digital. But for those who prefer physical there is going to be a lot of animosity towards Nintendo on how the point differences are calculated.

This program is run a bit like how the Digital Deluxe program on the Wii U. Owners of a specific console SKU would receive vouchers for money back in code form from a now defunct website, with the minimum being 5 dollars on the Wii U you could “cash out” on. This one does allow you to spend your points directly and it doesn’t matter if you’re in Canada or the US, 1 point is 1 cent. Maybe it’s time to consider digital?

We’re celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Nintendo Switch by ranking our top 10 favorite games. Join Greg, Mike, Blake, Barry and me as we count down our favorite Switch games from its first year!

Gaming news publication Eurogamer has posted a fair bit of “confirmed” rumors as of late about the Switch and upcoming games! Among these seems to be that Bandai Namco, more specifically their Singapore studio, is working with Nintendo on the upcoming Metroid Prime 4. Bandai Namco is not a stranger to Nintendo, either, working on two of Nintendo’s biggest fighters, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS and Pokkén Tournament!

Let’s see if this rumor comes true as we get closer to E3 2018. All we have so far is a teaser from E3 last year.
