Daylilies come in a large assortment of colors, have a long blooming season, require very little care, and can adapt to a number of different climates and habitats. For these reasons, daylilies are a favorite of home gardeners, and they have even been nicknamed the "perfect perennial." By planting your daylilies carefully and taking steps to maintain them, you can successfully grow these lovely plants.

EditSteps EditPlanting Your Daylilies
  1. Plant daylilies outside in the spring. Spring planting gives lilies the entire growing season to establish their roots before the winter freeze. If you live in a warmer climate with a longer growing season, you can be more flexible on planting times.[1]
    • Daylilies do very well when planted outdoors. They are not fussy about soil, they can tolerate shade, and they are naturally resistant to insects.
    • Daylilies are difficult to grow indoors. They require extensive artificial light and regular fertilizing to stay healthy. Indoor daylilies are unlikely to bloom at all.
  2. Find an area that gets at least 6 hours of sun per day. Daylilies need about of 6 hours of sunlight per day in order to thrive. Choose a spot for...

If you have unwanted hair on your face, you’ve probably dreamed of getting rid of it forever. You may have tried other treatments, including creams or laser hair removal, only to be disappointed when you discovered they are not permanent. The only FDA-approved treatment for permanent hair removal is electrolysis, which uses shortwave radio frequencies to destroy the hair follicle.[1] Even with electrolysis, some hair regrowth may occur after a few years. If you’re interested in trying electrolysis, research and consult with different electrologists and be sure to protect your skin before and after treatment.

EditSteps EditChoosing an Electrologist
  1. Search online to find electrologists in your area. An electrologist is a person who has gone through special training to perform the electrolysis procedure. Research different electrologists in your area and make a list of the ones you think are most qualified. Try to find at least 3-4 electrologists to start with.[2]
    • Look for electrologists with at least 5 years of experience in the field, with positive reviews on their business page and social media and a professional-looking website.
    • Many cosmetic surgeons and dermatologists...

A common way of wishing someone “Happy St. Patrick's Day” in the native Irish language is “Lá fhéile Pádraig sona dhuit!” If you want to sound like a well-versed Irishman or Irishwoman, though, there are a few other sayings and terms related to the festival that you should know. Here are a few worth reviewing.

EditSteps EditWishing Others a Happy St. Patrick's Day
  1. Tell someone “Lá fhéile Pádraig sona dhuit!” This is a very basic, straightforward way of wishing anyone you meet a happy St. Patrick's Day.
    • The expression means “Happy St. Patrick's Day to you!”
    • Lá fhéile Pádraig means “St. Patrick's Day." Note that you could also shorten this to “Lá ‘le Pádraig” in this saying and any other. The meaning is the same, but native Irish speakers often use the latter as a way of shortening the term to something more natural and casual.
    • Sona means “happy” in English.
    • Dhuit means “to you,” when the “you” being referred to is singular.
    • Pronounce the exclamation as lah leh PAH-drig SUN-uh gwitch.
  2. Wish “Lá fhéile Pádraig sona dhaoibh!” to a crowd. This sentiment adapts the basic way of wishing someone a happy...

Being around a narcissist can be both intoxicating and frustrating. This person has a cocky, no-holds-barred attitude that attracts you to them. At the same time, their infatuation with themself leaves little or no room for you— unless it directly benefits them, of course. It's totally understandable if your relationship with this person makes you really confused. If you want to keep the narcissist in your life around, you will need some coping tricks up your sleeve. Set firm boundaries, learn how to navigate the landmines of communication and take good care of yourself to manage life with a narcissist.

EditSteps EditSetting Boundaries
  1. Identify your boundaries. If you want to live with them, you can't realistically micromanage everything the narcissist does or says. You also can't just let them treat you however they please. So, where's your middle ground? Figure out what narcissistic behavior you can't tolerate.[1]
    • For example, you may be able to tolerate them dominating conversations, but you are not able to accept when they insult you.
    • Narcissists are infamous for walking over people and abusing their goodwill, so you need to know your limits.
  2. Make...

Roaches are nasty little critters that no one wants running loose anywhere in their home–especially not in their bed. Luckily, there are many things that you can do to keep them out of your bed, and even out of your living space entirely.

EditIn a Hurry?

The best way to keep roaches out of your bed is to throw out any unnecessary clutter that you have in your bedroom, such cardboard boxes. Clean your entire home each week by vacuuming, sweeping, and dusting, and consistently wash the dishes and take out the trash. Use caulk to fill in any cracks, and replace any damaged vent screens in your bedroom to help block entry from outside. Switch out any bedding that brushes the ground, and wrap silicone tape around the bottom of your bed posts. To learn how to repel and kill roaches, read on!

EditSteps EditBlocking Entry to Your Room and Bed
  1. Look for potential entry points to your bedroom. Take a few minutes to search your entire bedroom for places where roaches could potentially get in from outside. Take a close look at where the walls meet the floor and ceiling in...

Whether you're attending your first opera or have attended one before, you may not know how to fully appreciate it. Opera is a musical art form that can evoke profound emotions through its characters, costuming, and music. Even if you've never considered yourself a music buff, you can have an enjoyable night at the opera. By the end of the performance, you may even become a budding opera connoisseur!

EditSteps EditGetting Ready
  1. Read the opera's plot summary. Researching the opera's plot can help you understand what emotions and themes each song is trying to convey. If the opera you want to see is in a language you don't know, look for the plot online to help you understand the performance better.
  2. Listen to the opera music beforehand. While you're getting ready for the event, put on a few of the opera's songs to listen to as background music. Familiarizing yourself with the music will help you get accustomed to how opera sounds beforehand so you can focus more on enjoyment at the actual event.[1]

St. Patrick’s Day is a popular Irish holiday celebrated not only in Ireland, but in many places around the world. To plan the perfect St. Patrick’s Day party, start by drafting a list of guests you’d like to invite. Next, make a list of the foods you might want to include at the party. • Plan on inviting about 20% more people than you can accommodate, since many people might not be able to attend.
  2. Create your invitations. Your St. Patrick’s Day invitation should include some sort of appropriate graphic. For instance, you might choose an invitation bearing a four-leaf clover or a leprechaun (a mythical creature associated with the holiday).

When it comes to toddler boys’ hair, it’s best to stick to simple, low-maintenance styles and products. Tame and style your toddler’s hair with gentle children’s products to create spikes, defined curls, or a neat comb-over. Try to avoid common hair or toddler behaviour problems and remember that in the end, you don’t need to worry too much about the style itself, since it probably won’t last too long on an active toddler boy!

EditSteps EditStyling with Product

A few wrinkles are inevitable, especially around your mouth and eyes. EditSteps EditTaking Care of and Protecting Your Skin
  1. Wear sunscreen. When you're out in the sun, you should protect your skin with a broad spectrum (UVA and UVB) sunscreen that's at least SPF 30. It's also a good idea to pick a sunscreen with a physical blocking agent, such as zinc oxide.[1]
    • It also helps to put on a wide-brimmed hat to block out the rays.[2]
    • Don't just put on sunscreen when you're headed to the pool. Try using a daily moisturizer with a built-in sunscreen all year round. You can even buy moisturizers with sunscreen that are made just for your face.
    • While a daily...

Although flights with layovers are often much cheaper than direct flights, sometimes a layover is unavoidable, and simply just sitting around in an airport isn't fun at all. However, with a little planning, whether you are staying at the airport or seeing the sights, you can make the most of an airport layover.

EditSteps EditAt the Airport
  1. Do some research beforehand. Many airports have more than just your average food court filled with fast food and just a few kiosks. In fact, many of them have fancy restaurants that you may not have back in your city, as well as clothing stores that you'd typically see in a mall. This is why research is important, so you'll know what you can do in the airport.
    • If you forgot to do your research, then airport employees, either general ones that aren't busy or ones at a nearby store or restaurant that isn't busy, can come in handy. Ask them what they recommend for you to do, and they may have some ideas.
  2. Explore the airport in general. Sometimes, just walking around the airport can be fun, in and of itself. You may find a shop you didn't...
