Daily Design Inspiration AoiroStudio Jan 19, 2018 Part of the Daily Design Inspiration series that started it all on Abduzeedo. This is where you'll find the most interesting things/finds/work curated by one of us to simply inspire your day. Furthermore, it's an opportunity to feature work from more designers, photographers, and artists in general that we haven't had the chance to write or feature about in the past. For this Daily we are selecting in graphic design, web design, illustration and more. Our goal is to diversify the types of work and in the future we can perhaps categorize them in different sections. For now we are going to stick to the simple format of images and links. I hope you enjoy and share with use via Twitter or our Tumblr. Until further notice, we'll display the images and the titles added to them. Because of little issues we had in the past, the images are still linked to their authors, we just won't mentioned who shared them like we...
Beautiful Brain: The Drawings of Legendary Santiago Ramón y Cajal ibby Jan 19, 2018 We were awestruck by the newly released Beautiful Brain, a companion book to a traveling exhibition showcasing hand-drawn notebook renderings by the father of modern neuroscience, Santiago Ramón y Cajal. The exhibition is the very first peek at Cajal's extraordinary drawings here in the US and is a mind-bending look at the way neurons, the building blocks of our brain, spinal column and nervous system, communicate with one another. Cajal theorized that neurons are in touch without touching and this process of synaptic messaging came to be called the Neuron Doctrine earning him the Nobel Prize in 1906 for his painstaking research. What we love most about Cajal's story is the fact that his groundbreaking discoveries changed the world by using just two tools including the most powerful telescope he could find and one of the oldest art techniques know to mankind: drawing. We can thank Cajal for devoting his life to the anatomy of the brain and his ability to visualize resulted in some of the most remarkable illustrations...

A Skateboarder's Journal Book Cover Design Process abduzeedo Jan 18, 2018 As a former skateboarder and still avid fan of the sport I try to follow what's going on in that industry especially because, in my opinion, I believe they set a lot of trends in style. I have fond memories of the skateboarding magazines I used to collect in the 90s like Trasher and Transworld. When I saw the post that Tim Bisschop about a hand painted book cover for the "A Skateboarder's Journal" I knew I had to post about it. Tim was also super cool to share a bit of how he did that. It seems simple but the result is like the essence of skateboarding. It's all about the style and simplicity. Tim Bisschop is a graphic designer from Belgium wit an inspiring portfolio focused on Editorial Design, Graphic Design and Typography. We highly recommend that you check it out at http://www.timbisschop.be/ A Skateboarder's Journal Book Cover
Pictures of the Amazing Sonoco Headquarters fabiano Jan 18, 2018 The new Sonoco headquarter is the kind of place that we just see the office picutres and would love to work for them, just that. Located in Hartsville, South Carolina, the Whitney Architects made and amazing job designing their new office, creating a new innovation center that truly exemplifies their new brand and company initiatives of innovation. There is a variety of meeting spaces, as well as residential and retail vignettes targeted to putting customers in a real life scenario for using their products. These spaces are equipped with integrated technology that aims at making the transfer of information easier. Through custom wall graphics, acrylic walls celebrating numerous patents, and custom signage, Whitney’s branding helped complete the Sonoco story. For more pictures visit: officesnapshots.com.
Netflix Recommendations: Under an Arctic Sky AoiroStudio Jan 18, 2018 It's been a little while since our last Netflix Recommendation, we have one for you now. It's 40 minutes short documentary I watched last Sunday during a casual cold day in Canada. The documentary is all about surfing as we are following the adventure of five adrenaline junkies on a journey to explore the unknown of Iceland and its conditions. They will have to go through many brutal & windy storms, freezing temperature and a lot more to reach success. This documentary has a collection of amazing drone footage and filmed in areas that I've personally never seen. It's quite inspiring seeing them tackling down all the obstacles together. With three hours of light each day, brutal winter storms and freezing temperatures, Iceland is far from the ideal surf trip. However, this didn’t stop photographer Chris Burkard and filmmaker Ben Weiland from rounding up a crew of surfers to seek out unknown waves in the islands remote...

Awesome Illustration for Movie Posters by Rafal Rola abduzeedo Jan 17, 2018 Rafał Rola, a super prolific designer from Lublin, Poland shared an incredible post on Behance sharing some beautiful posters created in 2017. The posters are for movies like Blade Runner 2049, Justice League, Star Wars Last Jedi, Ghost in the Shell, War for the Plane of the Apes, Wonder Woman and many other super popular movies and TV shows in 2017. The highlight though, is the style. They all feel like oil and watercolor painted but it was all done digitally with Adobe Sketch, Illustrator and Photoshop. For me it's always awesome to see something that feels unique and fresh, moving a bit away from the minimalism or highly detailed vector illustration. I think it's a good way to bring a bit more variety to ABDZ in 2018.  Make sure to check out Rafal Rola's website for a full portfolio and some more awesomeness in illustration and design...

Product Design Love: Bodega Los Cedros by Anagrama Studio ibby Jan 17, 2018 Bodega Los Cedros is a Mexican vineyard located in the mountains of Arteaga, Coahuila. The origins of the name derive from a passion and dream of a family to produce high quality wines within a region more than 100 years old named "El Cedrito." Enter the talented team at Anagrama Studio to bring the branding vision of this magical place to life by tapping into the geographical location of the vineyard for inspiration. The end result, a beautiful brand identity that employs the characteristic components of the area such as climate, altitude, flora and fauna. We particularly love the simplicity of the logo highlighting three pine trees as the brand's distinctive icon along with the wine label and die-line mimicking cloud shapes. From a typographic standpoint, we can enjoy a sans serif that adds a touch of modernity while the script gesture preserves a more organic touch showcasing the brand's marriage of simplicity and elegance. The color palette is nice and neutral enabling a spotlight on the diverse wine color tones while  accentuating the contrast between bottle and label. Cheers to the Anagrama team for a beautiful execution celebrating this beautiful wine label.

Forgotten Temple Illustration by Rui Gonçalves AoiroStudio Jan 16, 2018 Let's take a look at this rather cool illustration by art director/graphic designer Rui Gonçalves. Based in Barcelona, Spain, Rui is a true passion when it comes to graphic design and also art direction. Judging by his Behance Profile, ideas and concepts seems to be his forté. Today we are a case study at the Forgotten Temple Illustration, a commission project ended up being a personal experimentation. My favourite part of this illustration is the layers of details from what's underneath the sea, the dinosaur fossil is quite a nice touch. This illustration also reminds me of his Everything is okay, until it's not. project that we have featured on ABDZ. What started as a commission ended in a personal project. I wanted to push my isometric illustration skills a bit more so i decided to turn this idea, which originally was designed for a client, into a personal project - "Forgotten...

D'outros Tipos: Graffiti and Typography Magic by João Pereira ibby Jan 12, 2018 Happy Friday, all! We're delighted to feature this charming street art project perfectly blending two passion areas of the talented João Pereira dubbed D’outros Tipos. Lisbon-based Pereira began working on this artistic project in 2017 with a focus of merging together two of his creative passions: graffiti and typography. The end result, a mural inspired by the great Alphaville song "Forever Young." The message conveyed is visually strong and is a spot on representation of Pereira's optimistic mindset. The colors create a great contrast with the background's black and the lettering’s white in a subtle reference to the saturated tones of our beloved 80s. Enjoy and check out more from this super talent here!
Winter Time in Ginzan Onsen (Hot Spring) and around Japan AoiroStudio Jan 12, 2018 Seeing images from Ginzan Onsen made me miss Japan pretty badly, especially during this time of year. Being from Canada, winter tends rightfully cold and long. But again, seeing the pictures from Japan-based photographer naagaoshi, they are just so breathtaking. It almost feels like that is taken from a scene of the animated fantasy movie: Spirited Away. Let's follow naagaoshi and his photographic adventure into the silver mine hot spring and several locations around Japan. About Ginzan Onsen The translation means "silver mine hot spring" from Japanese. It's located in the area of Obanazawa, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. Nowadays, this place is better known as one of Japan's prettiest onsen towns with historic ryokan lined-up along the river.
